Lil Wayne Biting the Hand that fed him... after midnight that is

Now I usually don't give 2 shakes of a rats dick when it comes to over commercial shit, unless it's a re-edit...

But this guy is biting the hand that feeds him and turning his back on the music that he supposedly loves....

Glad Doo Wop did this response video!!!

Flippin styles quicker than Tony Montana does keys, Whiskey Pete is here to rhythmically intoxicate your brain with flows that hit ya harder than a Sunday morning hang-over! A familiar face throughout the Southern California club scene, with recent performances in some of LA's hottest clubs (Key Club, Avalon, Crash Mansion, Cinespace, Vanguard, Larchmont) Pete is a multi-talented artist who is aware of what it means to be the MASTER of ceremonies! This kid can get straight buck and fully hype a packed house, and a moment later step back to let the music do the talking. This is what helps separate Pete from the ordinary, and one of the primary reasons he receives the kind of respect he does. With an already elevated status through his alias Re:Pete MC (a house-hold name in the Los Angeles Drum n Bass community) Pete has been blowin up clubs in almost every vein of music from electro to breaks to hiphop and is basicly leavin heads nodding and sweat dripin in the process. Pete is def an all around party rocker who knows how to get a crowd involved by giving off an energy that is contagious in his stage presence. And if that wasn't enough, he's logging studio hours with a multitude of upcoming So-Cal artists and producers. With album projects and mixes lined up and with an almost constant performance schedule pete is finding himself stirred up in this massive whirlwind of cross-genre craziness, Pete already has his ticket for the musical train that is seemingly carrying its way to the top of the electronica world, and from there...who knows?

more "Street Artist" support for Obama

It seemed like only a matter of time when the vocal and expressive world of "Street Art" and the ever changing world of politics collide. (see previous blog on Fairey X Obama)

Recently Shepard Fairey of "OBEY" fame was sanctioned by presidential candidate Barack Obama to produce campaign posters

Now 2 also famous artists Munk One & Sam Flores have thrown their support and skills to Obama.

the DEEP end aka.. the last DEEP

For nearly 8 Years (7 years and 10 months to be exact) Deep in San Diego has been a staple of Southern California Drum and Bass. Deep has been the first to break many deejays, tracks and careers. Without deep many of the acts we have seen would not have been possible. So many friends, so many sounds, and too many memories will be lost.

After this Thursday many of those who religiously got their fix of drum and bass, socializing and relief from life’s pressures will no longer have a place to call home.

First and foremost... I want to thank Kris, Syndo and Sklyer for bringing me on board. w/ out your offer, i would not have had such an amazing opportunity to meet and play w/ some of the nicest and genuine people (especially all of my so cal fam). Delano, Ridda and Jason, thanks for your involvement!!

second thanks to all of so cal for their love and support!!! w/ out the attendees and talent that rolled through we wouldnt have been shit! I won't make a list in fear of forgetting anyone...

third DEEP is ending for no other reason than the fact that Kris and myself feel it's time to move on... we had an awesome (close to) 8 year run and have brought out alot of the djs and producers we looked upto.

so with that said, we look forward to doing it one last time!!! Come down witness the Stateside Pre-party, Say HAPPY BDAY to Wallkrawler and Farewell to DEEP!!!

lets go of the Deep END!

we love you so cal!

General Elektriks - Crush ft. Pigeon John

So you may not have heard of Herve Salters aka General Elektriks but you've probably heard him as he has played keyboards with everyone from Femi Kuti to Blackalicious. With influences ranging from Stevie Wonder & Herbie Hancock to David Bowie & Prince to Beck & Radiohead to De La Soul and Pharcyde, it no wonder why GE is getting the following reviews!

(Featuring Pigeon John)
Sample: 'When doves cry' by Prince

"A unique, quirky mix of hip-hop, electronic music and Fender-Rhodes funk that could serve as a soundtrack for the new Millenium; call it Ennio Morricone for the 21st century."

"Like the Beatles in a pub brawl with the Neptunes, excellent!"
Quantic / Tru Thoughts, UK

"Providing the missing link between Gangstarr, Will Oldham and The Prodigy, Herve Salter's glitchy lounge electronics is the best thing to emerge from Compost Records in years."
