Laurent Daumail, better known to music fans as DJ Cam, is one of the bedrock artists of the electronic genre, known not only for his remix work, but also for his eclectic productions of hip-hop, chill-out, and jazz. His hit remixes include everything from Nas (Made You Look) to Cypress Hill (Highlife) to Macy Gray (Do Something) to Michael Jackson (Rock My World). His first release, 1994s Underground Vibes was followed by Underground Live (1996), Substances (1996), DJ Kicks (1997), The Beat Assassinated (1998), The Loa Project Vol.1/Vol. 2 (2000), and Soulshine (2002). His current release Revisited By (2006) is a collection of remixes of his work by such luminaries as Thievery Corporation, Kenny Dope, Kid Loco, DJ Premier and Bob Sinclar.

You might not have heard of him, but lots of your favorite producers have. This collection features star producers remixing his work: DJ Premier, Lord Finesse and J Dilla are in the mix, alongside Thievery Corporation and Kenny Dope...good chill music.
-Scratch Magazine

Revisited By, a new remix record of Cam's tracks, with dubby, moody slices of electronic bliss from Kenny Dope, AtticaBlues, Four Hero, and of course, Thievery Corporation.
-Village Voice

Considered by many to be France's best hip hop DJ and producer.
-Time Out London

DJ Cam is one of those hip-hop guys that will get a lifetime achievement award at the 2035 Grammys. Hes been around forever, and all the DJs and producers who mug the limelight automatically divulge Cam as an influence/someone they respect.
-Big Shot Magazine

Paris native DJ Cam's "Bronx Theme" also stuns. Built on a Gang Starr sample from "The Place Where We Dwell," Cam's admiration for beatmaker luminary DJ Premier didn't begin with his shoutout to NYC in 2004's Liquid Hip Hop; it first surfaced in these morphing piano-spiked beat changeups.
-Miami New Times

Cam's hip-hop approach can't help but shine through with lyrics from Guru, Afu Ra and Channel Live. Premier's production aesthetic, all crackling drums and scratched vocal hook, dominates his mix of "Voodoo Child," though the tremulous organ that forms the underbelly smacks of Cam's design.

Dj Cams work has inspired some of the best remixers in the business to put their stamp on his music.
